Welcome to my page dedicated to the Apex/Hiteker AD-600A DVD player. Here I will discuss some of the more technical aspects of the player. If you are interested in finding out more about your AD-600A, how to change the firmware, or even how to fix your power supply then you have come to the right place! Please note that this page is constantly under construction and some areas will change as more refinements are made.

COVER ON

The AD-600A DVD Player... Simple layout but heaps of features!

The AD-600A is made by a Chinese company called Jiangsu Hongtu High-Technology Company and is badged different names all over the world. Here in Australia it is called a "Hiteker", over in America it is an "Apex", in the Netherlands it is a "Hiteker BI-600E", while in other places it is called a Raite, Shinco, and VDDV...... There is also differences in the background picture and screen saver depending on where your player was sold too. But despite all this they are all basically the same player. Over time there has been changes inside the player involving some of the chips, and also different firmware versions too. More details in the side menu.

So why is this player so popular? Flexibility and Price. It can play DVD, VCD, SVCD, Audio CD, MP3, CDR, CD-RW. It can be modified to play all DVD region discs and also turn off Macrovision so you can transfer your DVD to video tape without the annoying copy protection making the picture bad.

...And with the cover off... Much more interesting! The circuit board on the left is the Power Supply, the board on the right is the main processor circuitry and the rear board accommodates the Audio/Video sockets. The DVD drive is a standard IDE-interface unit, this one being a DVS DSL-600A.
