Having trouble playing DVD Recordable media?

Unfortunately this is a common problem and is because the AD600A was designed in a time where recordable DVD media was just emerging. In almost all cases the reason why your player cannot read DVD Recordable media is because the DVS model DVD-ROM drive (also known as the "loader") is at fault.

You can try upgrading the DVD-ROM loader firmware from THIS LINK however be warned that depending on the age of your loader your mileage may vary. Some loaders respond well, others less so, and in some circumstances nothing will change. The latter is more so with early letter version model drives up to and including LD series. Unfortunately there is no comprehensive list so therefore no way of telling but to just try and see.

If your loader still does not allow playing of DVD Recordable media after attempting an upgrade you may have to consider replacing the loader. The DVS loaders are not available to the general public so your only real alternative would be to follow the directions on replacing your loader as outlined HERE. This page is written more for people with a totally dead loader but the theory is the same.
