GK600B UNIVERSAL CDR

Presented here is a "special" CDR image file that will convert a GK600A, N1-3, N1-4 or N6 AD-600A player into GK600B. How is this possible with just one CDR?

The different model players look for a different firmware image file:

GK600A and GK600B looks for a file called "UGK600AM.ROM"
N6 looks for a file called "U600NAM.ROM"
N1-4 looks for a file called "U600N1AM.ROM"

So what if we were to put three identical versions of GK600B firmware on the same CDR but call each the different filename? Presto! You get a CDR that will cater for all three models.

BEWARE N6 PLAYERS: Using this CDR without having the karaoke chip removed will disable analogue (left/right) audio output. If you happen to flash with this CDR by mistake do not worry, just use the N6 CDR upgrade found on my firmware page to restore audio.

NOTE: you will need a program capable of burning a .iso image file (like CDRwin). With CDRwin click on the "File Backup and Tools" icon and then use the pulldown menu to select "Record an ISO9660 image file". Select the GK600B CDR image you have downloaded (called "GK600B_universal.ISO" after unzipping it first) and burn!

ALSO NOTE: To CDR upgrade you need a flashrom inside your player already capable of doing CDR upgrades to the firmware. If the CDR upgrade does not work for you then your player can only be upgraded by programming the chip in an external chip programmer.
