N6 UNIVERSAL CDR

NOTE: IF YOUR PLAYER DOES NOT WORK WITH THIS CDR (YOU ONLY SEE AN MP3 MENU OR NOTHING HAPPENS AT ALL) THEN YOUR PLAYER CANNOT BE CDR UPGRADED AND THEREFORE YOUR ONLY WAY TO GET THIS FIRMWARE IS TO CHANGE THE FIRMWARE CHIP.

Presented here is a "special" CDR image file that will convert a player with GK600A, GK600B, N1-4, N6 or Canadian AD-600E player into N6 Region Free/Macrovision off . How is this possible with just one CDR?

The different model players look for a different firmware image file:

GK600A and GK600B looks for a file called "UGK600AM.ROM"
N6 looks for a file called "U600NAM.ROM"
N1-4 looks for a file called "U600N1AM.ROM"
Canadian AD-600E looks for "U600AM.ROM"

So what if we were to put four identical versions of N6 firmware on the same CDR but call each the different filename? Presto! You get a CDR that will cater for all four models.

NOTE: you will need a program capable of burning a .iso image file (like CDRwin). With CDRwin click on the "File Backup and Tools" icon and then use the pulldown menu to select "Record an ISO9660 image file". Select the N6 CDR image you have downloaded (called "N6_universal.ISO" after unzipping it first) and burn!

ALSO NOTE: To CDR upgrade you need a flashrom inside your player already capable of doing CDR upgrades to the firmware. If the CDR upgrade does not work for you then your player can only be upgraded by programming the chip in an external chip programmer.

When upgrading the screen will not look normal. This is OK and just wait for the upgrade to finish, which will be under 10 minutes.
