Surround Sound and your AD-600A

Surround Sound from you AD-600A through the Left/Right analogue audio outputs to a Dolby Pro-Logic amplifier is easy. The trick is to make sure you have the "Speakers" option set properly on your player. To do this press the "SETUP" button on your remote. Then use the down arrow button to highlight "SPEAKER SETUP" and press ENTER.

You will now see the line out sound options. Set it for "LT/RT".

If you just want normal stereo (not surround) set it for "STEREO".

To test if you have properly set surround sound you can try playing the start of "Toy Story". When the THX logo breaks down and the little robot flies around the screen fixing the speakers you will hear the sound follow him around from front to rear, and then back to the front again.

If you are worried that the removal of the Karaoke chip, or if your newer (6/2000 and later) AD-600A player will still do Surround Sound output for your movies then fear not. You can still have surround sound.

I have tried both a new player without the Karaoke chip and my old player that has had the Karaoke chip removed. In both players I could still hear surround sound through a Dolby Pro-Logic HiFi system

NOTE: This is *NOT* Karaoke surround sound I am talking about, only the surround sound output from a DVD disc. Karaoke surround sound is not possible with no Karaoke chip.
