HITEKER BI-660 FIRMWARE
Here are two versions of the firmware for a European Hiteker BI-660EAM DVD player. There is both the original and a patched version of the firmware.
The original firmware is Region Free, but Macrovision is still enabled.
The patched firmware is Region Free, Macrovision disabled and RCE immune!
BEFORE YOU UPGRADE PLEASE READ THESE TWO NOTES!:
1. This is for AM versions of the Hiteker. Therefore your player can only be upgraded with a CDR when the brandname of the chip is NOT Megawin. AMD and AMIC brands of the chip is OK. If your player happens not to be CDR upgradable then the "UBI660AM.ROM" file on the CDR can be used with a chip programmer to program the firmware manually.
2. IF USING THIS FIRMWARE ON AN APEX 660 YOUR APEX 660 REMOTE WILL NOT WORK! The reason is the remote control code in the firmware is different. However an APEX AD-600A remote can be used and it will work fine!
Click HERE for the original BI-660 firmware (Region Free but Macrovision enabled) as an ISO9660 CDR firmware universal upgrade image file.
OR
Click HERE for the patched BI-660 firmware (Region Free, Macrovision disabled and RCE immune) as an ISO9660 CDR firmware universal upgrade image file. UPDATE! (17/12/2001) now with 1.5x zoom.
NOTE: you will need a program capable of burning a .iso image file (like CDRwin). With CDRwin click on the "File Backup and Tools" icon and then use the pulldown menu to select "Record an ISO9660 image file". Select the BI-660 CDR image you have downloaded (called either "BI660EAM_original.ISO" or "BI660EAM_patched.ISO" after unzipping it first) and burn!
ALSO NOTE: To CDR upgrade you need a flashrom inside your player already capable of doing CDR upgrades to the firmware. If the CDR upgrade does not work for you then your player can only be upgraded by programming the chip in an external chip programmer.
