There is currently no firmware that will work perfectly on the JDVD3818.

Firmware from other similar players may work on this player, but depending on which firmware you load, one or more of the following may not function perfectly:

- Front panel display
- Front panel buttons
- Remote control

For example, if you load firmware from the Daewoo DVG-3000N onto the Citizen JDVD3818, the front panel display will probably not work on your player, because the Daewoo DVG-3000N uses an LCD display (and thus its firmware is designed to operate an LCD display)
whereas the JDVD3818 uses a VFD display. Some of the remote control buttons may have different functions (because the 3000N remote is probably a little different from the JDVD3818 remote). However, the front panel buttons should be OK (because the 3000N front panel buttons use the same design as the JDVD3818 front panel buttons.)

If you load firmware from the Daewoo DVG-5000N, some of the remote control buttons will work differently, and the front panel buttons will work differently. However, the VFD display should be OK.

If you load firmware from the Daewoo DVG-6000D, some of the remote control buttons will work differently. But, the front panel buttons and the VFD display should both be OK.

The best choice is probably firmware from the Electrohome EH-8181 (not EH-8181A.) The EH-8181 *supposedly* has the same remote control as the JDVD3818. It also uses the same type of VFD display. The front panel buttons are different, however. Proper functionality of the remote and VFD display seem more important than proper functionality of the front panel buttons, so that's why the EH-8181 firmware is probably the best choice.

Keep in mind that once you load firmware from another player on your JDVD3818, there will be no way to return to the "pure" Citizen firmware (i.e. with the Citizen background logo.) This could be a problem if you need to have warranty service performed on your player.
