Welcome to the Apex/Hiteker* DVD Hacking Pages!
*"Hiteker" in Australia no longer exists. It is now known as "Digitrex"
Now also incorporating Firmware Hacks for many other model DVD players too!
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
The website now exists as a "What You See Is What You Get" format. There will be no updates unless they come as ready to load pages. I will no longer be accepting "firmware and picture" only donations with no text as I simply do not have the time to single handedly scour the internet and write a full webpage on it, particularly given that most DVD players that get suggested are not even available here. This may make the site look "stale" but unfortunately that is how it has to be.
I will also no longer be supporting the One Firmware For All project in any way. I have had less and less support from the OFFA community over the last few months to the point now of almost no support at all. Any OFFA material that remains on this site is purely residual and for any of the latest OFFA firmware you can go to the Yahoo Groups official OFFA website here if you want that information. I will NOT be answering anything to do with OFFA any longer.
I will also no longer be answering questions on any players I have had no experience with (that means ALL the players that you do not see a picture with on this page). Do not get offended when you don't get a reply, it's just that I do not have the time.
Also do not get offended if I do not answer any "hand holding" questions. This site was always a technical site for the technically minded. If you have trouble by all means ask but bear in mind I might just be referring you to the Apex Forums anyway.

ES4318 and ES4408 Spec Sheets!
A lot of the players on this site is based on the popular ESS Technologies DVD processor chip. Here are the Specification sheets for the ES4318 and ES4408 processors. Unfortunately it does not contain the instruction set but it gives a basic outline of the chip's function and a pinout. You can view the ES4318 HERE and the ES4408 HERE (Adobe Acrobat Reader needed). You can also visit the ESS Technologies website HERE.
ES 6008/18/28/38 Spec Sheet now available too!
You can view the datasheet HERE (4.5MB file). Adobe Acrobat Reader needed.
SPU (Screen Saver) information.
SPU is the format used to generate the screen saver image. This information is vital to anyone who knows about programming the ES4308/ES4318 processor as used in a lot of Apex DVD players. You can view the goodies HERE.
